needs? We are looking for a dedicated
Key Worker
to join our team at the
Discovery Education Centre
, supporting students on a 1:1 basis. This role will be mainly focused in our Construction BTEC department, so some basic DIY knowledge will be required. This position offers working hours from 9:00 to 15:00 during school term time only, with the added benefit of being paid throughout the school holidays!
Key Responsibilities:
1:1 Support:
Work closely with a Post-14 student, helping with their day to day tasks, while their work is being overseen by a construction specialist.
Educational Support:
Assist the student with their work.
Behavioural Guidance:
Manage and support students who may exhibit behavioural challenges, using patience and understanding to foster positive development.
Engaging Activities:
In addition to academic support, you'll take part in a range of activities designed to be both fun and therapeutic for the student. This may include:
Cinema trips
Mountain biking
Football
Other recreational activities that help students unwind and enjoy themselves outside of structured learning.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Experience working with children or young adults within an educational setting, preferably with SEN/SEMH needs. However, this is not a requirement.
Must have a car.
Has a background or knowledge of basic DIY skills.
Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills to manage students with behavioural challenges.
An understanding of the importance of creating a balanced routine of education and fun activities to support the student's overall development.
A proactive, adaptable approach, able to handle both academic and activity-based tasks.
Basic knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies (training will be provided).
