Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals in need, including those with complex health conditions. This position is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, ensuring their comfort and dignity while promoting independence.

As Care Support Worker you will be working in a small Care Home for adults with Acquired Brain Injuries. You will work as part of a team providing care and rehabilitation to adults with acquired brain injuries. Whilst working as part of the Home team, you will be allocated a client/ clients for which you will take a specific interest in their care and welfare as a Key Worker. You will receive on-going training, guidance and support. You will maintain programmes developed by the Home's Rehabilitation Coordinator. You will feedback on the progress of your clients care and rehabilitation activities. You are expected to participate in household tasks and ensure a safe, clean and healthy environment for clients. You are required to vigilantly seek out all risk assessments and reactive management plans with regard to aspects of health and safety and client behaviour, ensuring that you understand and can implement them effectively

You will be expected to achieve training in administration of medicines. At all times you must maintain a professional outlook and effectively realise your role as ambassador for the organisation. Your position will require regular training/ education which you must undertake at the discretion of the Employer. You are expected to be able to use a computer to record information. You are obliged to attend regular support meetings with the Home Manager to address your performance and other work-related issues.

Role expectancies:



Y Provide regular feedback about client's rehabilitation programmes to Rehabilitation Coordinators and Home Managers.

Y Maintain client care and rehabilitation programmes and complete pertinent records following guidance and support from the Rehabilitation Coordinator and Home Managers.

Y Assist in teaching and supporting clients in all aspects of daily living, including personal care, by following their individual care plans.

Y Develop a spirit of friendship with clients, maintaining unconditional positive regard.

Y Develop clients' weekly activity schedules in collaboration with the client, the Rehabilitation Coordinator and Home Managers.

Y Maintain an effective time management regime.

Y Identify suitable resources within the home and community to support your named client's life-career development.

Y Facilitate and enable clients to build a fulfilling life.

Y Maintain a safe and healthy environment for clients.

Y Establish a comfortable, homely environment for clients.

Y Work within the statutory regulations and conditions relating to Residential Homes.

Y Administer medication to clients after appropriate training.

Y Respect the rights, privacy, and dignity of all clients with whom you work.

Y Maintain awareness of data security and ensure confidentiality regarding your work.

Y Assist clients maintain and develop external relationships.

Y Assist clients manage their financial affairs.

Y Adhere to prOKare policies and procedures (a copy of which is held in each home and which is introduced to employee's during their initial induction).

Y Complete a full induction programme and attend monthly education sessions which form part of the contracted hours.

Y Work flexibly, to suit demands in the home. This will include working occasional nights when necessary to cover sickness/ absence or leave of the home's night staff. Such nights will be set on the rota by the Home Manager.

Care Support Workers work a 35 hour week consisting of three non-consecutive days from 8.20am - 9.10pm with two x 40 minute breaks. Four days off. All staff are contracted to attend a 2hr 10min staff training/meeting session each calendar month.

Applicants will be offered QCF Diploma level 3 during their employment in this position. The rate of pay for applicants:

21 years and over

without Diploma 3 or equivalent in care is 12.50 hour (with continuity bonus equivalent 12.83 hour). For those who have achieved a Diploma 3 (or equivalent) in care and have provided a copy of their certificates to head office 12.70 hour (with continuity bonus equivalent 13.03 hour).

18-20 years

without Diploma 3 or equivalent in care 10.30 hour (with continuity bonus 10.63 hour). For those who have achieved a Diploma 3 (or equivalent) in care and have provided a copy of their certificates to head office 10.48 hour (with continuity bonus 10.81 hour).

A

continuity bonus

of 50.00 is paid for each period from the

21st

of the month to the

20th

of the following month you work without a break for sickness/absence or lateness of one hour or more, or frustration of the Home's rota by withdrawing your services (as in the case of overtime/ time-in-lieu being agreed) less than 3 days before such shift should commence and for maintaining attendance at compulsory monthly in-service education and at compulsory training events specified by the company at its discretion, which are considered necessary for your employment.

In homes where only one wake night staff is employed and in any case at the sole discretion of the Company, Care Support Workers will be expected to participate in an Active On-Call System (AOC) on particular days according to the monthly rota, for which there will be separate remuneration currently 20.00 a night stand by payment with the National Minimum Wage applying to active hours during call out.

The first six months of your employment will be a probationary period. All prOKare staff are expected to attend regular appraisals and to continually improve their knowledge and skill base. All staff will receive compulsory monthly in-service training. External courses to suit individual development profiles will be offered by the organisation at the discretion of senior management.
