KITCHEN ASSISTANT

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team. Based at the Hilton Garden Inn, Abingdon, Oxford Hotel, and working as an integral part of the Kitchen department.

This position involves taking pride in maintaining excellent standards of cleanliness and food safety and being able to assist chefs in food prep as and when required.

Responsibilities

Ensure that all kitchen equipment is kept impeccably clean and to assist the food service and kitchen staff as required. Ensure that all kitchen surfaces and areas are kept impeccably clean including doors, floors, fire extinguishers etc. Ensure that all equipment such as cutlery, crockery, glassware etc. is stored and allocated to correct areas and issued to the correct departments in preparation of service. Assist the kitchen and food service staff in the carrying of food and equipment when necessary. To ensure that the correct cleaning procedures are followed in respect of chemicals and equipment and follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules. To dispose of all rubbish and waste appropriately and efficiently. Maintain hand washing stations and replenish with soap and paper towels. Maintain high standards of working practices in terms of personal appearance, hygiene and working methods. To practice the correct and safe use and care of all items of equipment. To report any damage or wear and tear occurring within your areas of work. To be fully aware of and strictly observe Food Safety regulations.

Previous experience in a similar role Ability to work under pressure, whilst maintaining a positive and 'can do' attitude Well presented, self-motivated and good team player
