Overview of Job Role
We are seeking a
Kitchen Assistant
to join us in the exciting journey of opening of Aston Manor Care Home. This pivotal role requires an individual who can assist in the kitchen to prepare healthy and nutritious food. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of people skills and strong kitchen experience to deliver high standards of dining experience.
Hours of Work:
36.75 hours per week
(
7am - 5.30pm // 4 shifts in week 1 and 3 shifts in week 2)
(Rota will cover Monday - Sunday)
Competitive Pay Rate of
12.75 per hour
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the chef in preparation and delivery of nutritious and healthy meals for the residents.
Support with preparation of food including vegetables, salads, sandwiches and other snacks.
Understand the principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen are to the highest standards of hygiene.
Receive, check and safely store the kitchen deliveries.
Clean to high standards all the areas in and around the kitchen including but not restricted to cooking appliances, equipment, food preparation and storage areas.
Ensure to record and sign the appropriate kitchen documents to comply with the regulations.
Understand the principles of safe food handling, to ensure all food preparations undertaken in the kitchen are to the highest standards of hygiene.
Understand the cleaning requirements of different surfaces and equipment and the properties of cleaning materials, to ensure the areas are well presented and maintained in good condition.
Identify and report any issues to the Chef in relation to any aspect of smooth operations of the kitchen and dining service.
Understand the dietary requirements of the residents and ensure to follow all appropriate guidelines to meet with the changing needs of residents' dietary preferences.
Ensure that the food is presented and served in an appealing manner.
Ensure that all kitchen equipment is well maintained and in good working order.
Carry out any duties reasonably required to ensure the smooth operation of Aston Manor.
About You
Working knowledge of Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB), HACCP and EHO regulations.
Excellent communication skills with a people first approach.
Ability to multitask, prioritise and take ownership of this role with confidence and discretion.
Work flexibly and collaboratively as part of the team.
