As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll work closely with our Head Cook and wider team to ensure meals are prepared, served, and delivered in a timely, hygienic, and person-centred way. Your work will make a real difference to the daily lives of our residents, many of whom look forward to mealtimes as a highlight of their day.
Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals and drinks
Supporting the Cook with basic food preparation tasks
Washing up and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen and dining areas
Ensuring food is stored, handled, and served safely in line with food hygiene standards
Cleaning kitchen equipment and surfaces, following infection prevention and COSHH guidelines
Assisting with the safe delivery of meals to residents when required
About You
No formal qualifications are required, although experience in a catering or kitchen environment (especially in a care or healthcare setting) is an advantage. We're looking for someone who is:
Reliable, enthusiastic, and takes pride in their work
Friendly and approachable, with a respectful and caring attitude
Able to follow food hygiene and health & safety guidelines
Organised and efficient, with good attention to detail
Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
