Join our dynamic team as a Kitchen Assistant at Willington Village, a bustling care home. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, meal preparation, and maintaining a safe and efficient workspace.

Responsibilities:

- Collaborate with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations in meal preparation and service.

- Assist in food preparation, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and assembling dishes.

- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and handling kitchen equipment.

- Support the cook/chef in various tasks to expedite food production and service.

- Adhere to food safety standards and guidelines to ensure the quality and safety of all dishes.

- Help in catering events by setting up serving stations, replenishing food items, and assisting with cleanup.

- Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating effectively with colleagues and following instructions diligently.

Requirements:

- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or similar role is preferred.

- Knowledge of basic culinary techniques and food preparation procedures.

- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

- Understanding of kitchen safety and sanitation practices.

- Strong communication skills and a team player mentality.

- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.
