Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting meal preparation and ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly. They will be involved in all aspects of tasks involved in assisting the Cook within the busy kitchen of a 48 bedded nursing home. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about food and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

- Assist with meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the Cook
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all surfaces and equipment are sanitised according to food safety standards.
- Support the Cook at meal times, assisting with serving as needed.
- Help in the storage of food items, ensuring proper labelling and rotation to minimise waste.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and high-quality food presentation.
- Follow all health and safety regulations while working in the kitchen environment.

Experience

- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential as training will be given
- Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques will be advantageous.
- A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic kitchen setting is essential.
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues are crucial for success in this role.

Pay: 10.44-12.40 per hour
