Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support the kitchen staff in various tasks, ensuring that food is prepared efficiently and safely. This role is essential for maintaining a smooth operation in the kitchen, contributing to the overall success of our culinary offerings.

Duties

Assist in meal preparation and food preparation, ensuring all ingredients are ready for cooking. Support chefs with cooking tasks, including chopping, mixing, and plating dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitising work surfaces. Follow food safety guidelines to ensure all food is handled and stored correctly. Help with catering events by preparing meals according to specific requirements. Serve food to customers or guests as needed, ensuring a high standard of presentation. Participate in stock management by assisting with inventory checks and reporting shortages.

Skills

Previous kitchen experience is preferred, with a focus on culinary or restaurant experience. Knowledge of food safety practices is essential for maintaining hygiene standards. Experience in catering or large-scale meal preparation is advantageous. Strong organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with kitchen staff. A passion for cooking and a willingness to learn new techniques in food preparation. Opening hours is 12-9pm. After cleaning, would normally finish at 10pm approx.

Shifts can be

5-10pm/ 6-10pm/ 1-3& 6-10

Based in edinburgh city centre so public transport is available.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From 12.21 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 25 per week
