. The ideal candidate will support the Head Chef with preparation, cooking, and plating, ensuring smooth kitchen operations and consistent quality. This role requires flexibility - when the Head Chef is not present, you should be able to manage basic kitchen duties independently.
Duties
Assist in food preparation, including washing, chopping, marinating, and portioning ingredients.
Support the Head Chef in cooking and plating dishes during evening service.
Maintain kitchen hygiene: cleaning workstations, equipment, and ensuring safe food storage.
Follow food safety and HACCP procedures (temperature checks, stock rotation, cleaning logs).
Help with stock management: unpack deliveries, organise storage, minimise waste.
Step in to cover simple cooking tasks or plating when the Head Chef is unavailable.
Collaborate with the kitchen team and front-of-house to ensure smooth service.
Qualifications
Some experience in a professional kitchen preferred (Chinese / Pan-Asian cuisine a plus), but training can be provided.
Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure.
Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene (Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate desirable).
Team player with good communication skills.
Willingness to learn tea-food pairing and support new menu development.
Legal right to work in the UK.
