Kitchen Assistant
to join our vibrant Community Cafe team.
About the Role
As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll help prepare and serve simple, nutritious meals and drinks in a welcoming cafe environment. You'll support the Cafe Manager in delivering excellent customer service and contribute to the smooth running of the cafe throughout the week.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook meals such as breakfasts, jacket potatoes, soups, and desserts
Serve hot and cold drinks, take orders, and handle cash transactions
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and cafe area
Support volunteers and assist with catering for events and buffets
Help with stock control, ordering, and completing relevant paperwork
Build positive relationships with cafe users, staff, and volunteers
What We're Looking For
Essential:
Previous experience in catering and customer service
Good level of education
Strong understanding of food hygiene and health & safety
Excellent communication and food preparation skills
Friendly, organised, and able to stay calm under pressure
Desirable:
Level 2 Food Hygiene or Food Safety Certificate
Emergency First Aid at Work qualification
Experience in the voluntary sector or understanding of local community issues
