Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our team in a residential care home. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation and safety standards are met. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in a catering environment, where teamwork and attention to detail are essential. This role is flexible on days and we can be flexible on times to a certain degree, it is generally 8 am to 2 pm.

Duties

Assist in food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and measuring ingredients for various dishes. Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene in accordance with health regulations. Support chefs and cooks in meal preparation and presentation, ensuring timely service. Organise kitchen supplies and equipment, keeping the workspace clean and orderly. Help with the setup and breakdown of catering events as required. Follow instructions from senior kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations. Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.

Experience

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is advantageous but not essential; a willingness to learn is key. Familiarity with food preparation techniques and safety standards is preferred. Experience in catering or restaurant settings will be beneficial for understanding the fast-paced nature of the role. A passion for cooking and an eagerness to develop culinary skills will be highly regarded.
