Duties

Assist with food preparation and meal assembly under the guidance of chefs and cooks. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste. Ensure compliance with food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times. Help with the setup and breakdown of catering events as needed. Support cooks during busy periods by preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables or measuring out portions. Assist in restocking supplies and inventory management to ensure the kitchen is well-equipped. Participate in training sessions to improve culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.

Skills

Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene is essential. Previous experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant setting is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. A willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks within the culinary field. Good communication skills to work collaboratively with team members. Basic cooking skills or experience in meal preparation would be beneficial.
