You will work under the direction of the cook in a Care Home for up to 34 residents.

Assist in kitchen duties connected with the preparation, cooking and presentation of meals and beverages whilst ensuring the highest quality.

Carry out general kitchen and dining room duties, such as setting up, cleaning tables, washing up, serving meals etc.

Ensure that a good standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained throughout the kitchen and dining room.

Skills/Qualifications:



Previous kitchen assistant experience an advantage

Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative

Commitment to providing a quality service

We are looking for a kitchen assistant to start in August 2025 to work every Saturday and Sunday and to provide leave/sickness relief cover during the week. If you require more than 12 hours a week we may be in a position to offer hours in addition in an alternate role. We would also welcome applications from anyone who is also able to cook and may be able to step in for the Cook if necessary, but this is not a condition of the vacancy. A higher rate of pay is available when covering for the Cook.

The position is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS, which is payable by the candidate but this can be paid for via the first pay. You will also be required to provide 2 satisfactory references.

Title: Kitchen Assistant

Responsibilities:
- Assist in food preparation and cooking under the supervision of the cook
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas
- Wash, peel, and chop vegetables and fruits
- Measure and weigh ingredients for recipes
- Assist in plating and garnishing dishes
- Store food items properly and rotate stock as needed
- Follow all health and safety regulations in the kitchen
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies

Experience:
- Previous experience working in a kitchen or food service environment is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of basic food handling and preparation techniques is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team

Note: This position may require standing for long periods of time and lifting heavy objects. Applicants must be able to meet these physical requirements.
