Kitchen Assistant

Headline Terms

Immediate Start Rate of pay: 12.50/hour Hours: up to 20 hours per week

5:00pm till 9:00pm Monday - to Thursday

Holiday: 28 days pro-rated Location: Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre, Porthpean, St. Austell, Cornwall PL26 6AZ Contract: Initial part-time, fixed term contract until 31/09/25. Free meals whilst on shift (during seasonal opening times) Free parking

Porthpean Outdoor Education Centre is Cornwall's leading provider of school camps, summer camps, and outdoor adventure.

Our new Kitchen Assistant will be responsible for assisting our Head Cook with all matters food at our centre. Feeding up to 200 children every day, the role will suit someone with school or volume catering experience.

As Kitchen Assistant at Porthpean OEC, you will be play a crucial part on site, overseeing a variety of different functions. This will include management of:

food preparation food hygiene kitchen and site cleanliness kitchen and site compliance stock rotation

You will be an excellent communicator, both written and oral. You will be a likeable individual with a warm and upbeat personality to help welcome in the thousands of children and young people that stay at our centre every year. You will be 'handy' and prepared to get involved to ensure the job is done. You will be completely reliable, super-organised, flexible, and you will be able to provide glowing references. You live locally to the Cornish south coast and are passionate about Cornwall and all it has to offer. You hold a Full UK Drivers licence, with unrestricted access to a vehicle.
