Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Casual Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation and service run smoothly. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn within a fast-paced environment.

Duties

Assist in the preparation of meals, ensuring all ingredients are ready for cooking. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces. Support chefs and cooks with various tasks, including chopping, mixing, and assembling dishes. Adhere to food safety standards and hygiene regulations at all times. Help with catering events by preparing food items as directed. Assist in inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages. Participate in menu planning and contribute ideas for new dishes or improvements.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a restaurant or catering environment is preferred but not essential. Knowledge of food safety practices is highly desirable. Basic culinary skills, including food preparation techniques, are an advantage. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy kitchen setting. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail. Willingness to learn and take direction from senior kitchen staff. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
