Duties

Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and preparing ingredients as directed by the head cook or chef. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, ensuring all areas are kept tidy and hygienic. Support catering operations by preparing food items for events and functions as needed. Follow food safety guidelines to ensure all food is handled, stored, and prepared safely. Help with the washing up of dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment to maintain a clean working environment. Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely service during busy periods. Participate in stock management by assisting with inventory checks and reporting any shortages.

Requirements

Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided. Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary terminology is advantageous. Understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards is essential. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills related to cooking and meal preparation.
