Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant/cook to work part time on our culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen operations, ensuring that food preparation and safety standards are maintained. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about food and eager to learn more about the culinary arts within a dynamic environment.

This role is 3 days a week plus holiday cover

Responsibilities

Assist in meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and dicing ingredients as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager. Support the cooking staff in various tasks, including cooking, plating, and serving dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, ensuring all utensils and equipment are properly cleaned and stored. Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards to ensure a safe working environment. Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies when necessary. Participate in catering events as required, providing support during food service and clean-up. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely meal delivery.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is essential; a willingness to learn is key. Basic knowledge of food safety practices and culinary techniques is advantageous. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. Flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends if required. A genuine interest in culinary arts and a desire to develop skills within the kitchen setting.
