Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and cooking, with experience in food preparation and kitchen operations. As a Kitchen Assistant, you will support the kitchen staff in delivering exceptional meals while ensuring that all food safety standards are met.

Responsibilities

Assist in meal preparation and cooking under the supervision of the head chef or kitchen manager. Prepare ingredients by washing, chopping, and measuring as required for various dishes. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitising surfaces. Follow food safety guidelines to ensure all food is stored and handled correctly. Support catering events by preparing food items as per the menu requirements. Assist with serving meals during busy periods, ensuring timely delivery to guests. Help with inventory management by keeping track of stock levels and reporting shortages to the kitchen manager. Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service times.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant or catering setting. Basic culinary skills with an understanding of cooking techniques and food preparation methods. Knowledge of food safety standards and practices is essential. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team. A positive attitude towards learning new skills and taking on additional responsibilities as needed.
