Kitchen Assistant / Porter (with Cooking Experience)

Full time, Monday - Friday, primarily lunch service

Brokers Bar, based in Southwark, London, is a small but busy establishment with a strong community spirit. Alongside our day-to-day service, we proudly support Combat Stress, the UK's leading charity for veterans' mental health, through regular fundraising.

We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant / Porter who also has experience with cooking to support our kitchen team. This is a hands-on role for someone with professional kitchen experience who is willing to work flexibly across washing up, cleaning, food preparation, and occasional cooking.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including washing up, cleaning surfaces, and organising stock and equipment. Support food preparation (chopping, portioning, basic mise en place). Assist with cooking when required -- e.g. simple dishes, plating, or covering the chef during busy periods. Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are always followed. Work closely with the chef and bar team to keep service running smoothly. Take initiative in keeping the kitchen efficient and well-organised. Requirements Previous experience as a kitchen porter, kitchen assistant, or cook in a professional environment. Basic cooking skills and the confidence to step in when needed. Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks. Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work well in a small team. Commitment to a full-time, long-term role (not suitable for temporary workers).

Pay: 12.21-15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
