Here at The Old Mill Hotel we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Kitchen Manager to oversee the daily operations of our kitchen. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in culinary arts and food production, with a passion for hospitality and excellence in food safety. As the Kitchen Manager, you will be responsible for supervising kitchen staff, ensuring high standards of food preparation, and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. This role is essential in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests. This role has a 40 hours contract with paid overtime when working above contract.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production.
Oversee food preparation processes to maintain quality and safety standards.
Train and mentor kitchen staff in culinary techniques, food safety practices, and hospitality skills.
Manage inventory levels, ordering supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations.
Develop and implement menus that reflect seasonal offerings and customer preferences.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery.
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
Skills
Proven experience as a chef or in a similar culinary role within a restaurant setting.
Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food preparation.
Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
Familiarity with hospitality standards and exceptional customer service principles.
Experience in bartending is an advantage but not essential.
Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective team collaboration.
