We are seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and compassionate
Sunday Lunch Club Coordinator
to lead our weekly Sunday Lunch Club. This vital role is responsible for the successful planning, cooking, serving, and overall operation of our Sunday meal service, which aims to provide delicious food and companionship for socially isolated members of our community. The role is for one day a week (Sunday)
Key Responsibilities:
Kitchen Leadership & Skill Development
Lead the Cooking:
Oversee and actively participate in the preparation and cooking of a high-quality, nutritious meals.
Volunteer Support & Training:
Provide direction, support, and practical
hands-on training
to a team of volunteer cooks, helping them develop their culinary skills in a safe and encouraging environment.
Meal Freezing & Outreach:
Coordinate the portioning, freezing, and labeling of surplus meals for collection by individuals experiencing acute need, ensuring safe storage procedures.
Menu Planning:
Plan and cost weekly menus, managing inventory and sourcing ingredients in collaboration with relevant staff or volunteers.
Volunteer Management & Logistics
Team Organisation:
Organise and coordinate the weekly schedule and duties of all Sunday Lunch Club volunteers (kitchen, front-of-house, and clean-up).
Service Management:
Manage the efficient and welcoming service of the lunch, ensuring a positive experience for all participants.
Cleanliness & Maintenance:
Oversee the cleaning and tidying of the kitchen and dining area after the meal service.
Food Safety & Compliance
Food Safety Champion:
Ensure strict adherence to all
food hygiene and safety regulations
at all times.
Record Keeping:
Maintain essential records, including temperature logs, cleaning schedules, and volunteer attendance.
Allergen Management:
Be proficient in managing and communicating
allergen information
to ensure the safety of participants.
Community & Participant Engagement
Welcoming Presence:
Be the warm, friendly, and consistent face of the Lunch Club, creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for participants.
Social Interaction:
Engage with participants, fostering conversations and helping to alleviate feelings of
social isolation
.
Required Skills and Experience
Proven Cooking Experience:
Demonstrated experience in cooking for groups/large numbers (e.g., catering, community kitchen, or professional kitchen setting).
Food Safety Certification:
A current
Level 2 Food Safety Certificate
(or willingness to obtain one immediately).
Leadership & Teaching:
Experience in supervising and teaching volunteers or team members, with excellent communication skills.
Interpersonal Skills:
A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to support vulnerable or socially isolated individuals.
Organisation:
Excellent organisational and time management skills to ensure the timely delivery of the meal service.
Desirable
Experience working with volunteers in a community setting.
Budgeting and basic procurement experience.
Current First Aid qualification.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: 120.00 per day
Expected hours: 8 per week
Work Location: In person
