The Kitchen Porter plays a crucial role in supporting the kitchen staff by ensuring that the kitchen is clean, organised, and well-equipped for food preparation. This position is ideal for individuals looking to begin their career in the hospitality industry or those with prior experience in restaurants or hotels.
Duties
Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, pots, and pans.
Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by chefs or cooks.
Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use.
Help with the delivery and storage of food supplies.
Support chefs during busy service periods by providing assistance where needed.
Follow health and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the kitchen management.
Skills
Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or culinary setting is advantageous but not essential.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good communication skills and a willingness to work as part of a team.
A passion for hospitality and eagerness to learn about food preparation and kitchen operations.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
