Position Overview

A new and exciting luxury lodge resort set in the grounds of Chester Zoo is opening August 2025 and we are on the lookout for a Kitchen Porter to join the team.


The Reserve is an exciting development of 51 savannah inspired luxury lodges, overlooking a beautiful lake or our giraffe habitat and connecting directly to the stunning Heart of Africa zone of Chester Zoo. From immersive experiences to quiet relaxation, The Reserve is a place to make lasting memories.

The Role

As Kitchen Porter, you will be the heartbeat of the kitchen, helping to keep it clean, organised, and running smoothly. You'll support the chefs by maintaining hygiene standards, washing dishes, and handling deliveries - ensuring everything is in place for a first-class culinary experience.

Responsibilities:

Cleaning and sanitising all kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces. Ensuring the pot wash area is always kept clean and tidy. Assisting with basic food preparation when required. Managing waste disposal in line with recycling and sustainability standards. Supporting the kitchen team with deliveries and stock organisation. Always following health and safety and food hygiene regulations.

What We're Looking For:

A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Reliability, good timekeeping, and strong teamwork skills. No previous experience required - just enthusiasm.
