The Kitchen Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen while supporting chefs and cooks in food preparation tasks. Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, including washing dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment.
Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by chefs, including chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients.
Ensure all kitchen areas are tidy and organised, including storage areas and work surfaces.
Support the team by helping with deliveries and storing supplies appropriately.
Dispose of waste correctly and ensure recycling procedures are followed.
Assist with cleaning duties at the end of shifts to prepare for the next service.
Follow health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Skills
Previous experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen is advantageous but not essential.
Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques is beneficial.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment.
