The Role
As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of our kitchen. You will also be responsible for supporting kitchen staff where needed, handling deliveries and properly storing supplies.
Responsibilities include
Wash, rinse, and sanitise kitchen utensils, dishes, pots, and pans using industrial dishwashing equipment or by hand as necessary
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen by cleaning work surfaces, equipment, and floors regularly
Collect and dispose of kitchen waste, recycling, and garbage in a hygienic manner
Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies, ensuring proper labelling and storage practices
Support kitchen staff as needed with basic food prep, such as peeling and chopping vegetables, and assisting in setting up and breaking down kitchen stations
Collaborate with chefs, cooks, and fellow kitchen staff to maintain a clean and organised workspace
Adhere to health and safety guidelines, including food safety and sanitation standards
Required Skills & Experience
High school education or equivalent may be preferred
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly kitchen environment
Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils is a plus
Prior experience in a similar role is beneficial but not mandatory
Willingness to learn and take direction from kitchen leadership
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
