We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and experienced
Kitchen Porter/Assistant
to join our warm and welcoming nursery school team. If you take pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness, enjoy supporting meal preparation, and work well in a busy environment, we would love to hear from you!
Reports to: Head Chef
Start date: 2nd January 2026
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, dining area and staff room at all times.
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
Daily responsibility to oversee kitchen laundry to ensure clean cloths and tea towels.
Support the chef with routine tasks, including food storage and stock rotation.
Assist chef in food preparation on occasion.
Ensure all food safety and health & safety standards are followed.
Work closely with nursery staff to support smooth mealtime routines.
Requirements
Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or kitchen porter role is essential.
Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safe kitchen practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good time-management skills and a positive, proactive attitude.
Reliability and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
Some out of hours may be required for special occasions and events such as summer fetes and Christmas services.
