Role Overview



The Kitchen Porter/Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen. You'll help maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment, assist with basic food preparation, and ensure that chefs have the equipment and ingredients they need to deliver high-quality dishes.

Key Responsibilities



Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the kitchen, including equipment, work surfaces, floors, and storage areas. Wash and store crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, and utensils efficiently and safely. Support chefs with basic food preparation, such as peeling, chopping, or portioning ingredients. Ensure deliveries are received, checked, and stored correctly following food safety procedures. Dispose of waste properly and manage recycling in accordance with site policies. Refill stock levels and kitchen supplies as required (cleaning products, ingredients, etc.). Follow all food hygiene, health, and safety regulations at all times. Work as part of a team to ensure smooth kitchen operations, especially during busy service periods.

Strong work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude. Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Good team player with strong communication skills. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays if required.

Experience and Requirements



Previous experience in a kitchen or hospitality environment is desirable but not essential--full training will be provided. Understanding of basic food hygiene and safety (Level 1 Food Hygiene certificate preferred). Physically able to handle standing for long periods and occasional heavy lifting.
