We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic kitchen team. The Kitchen Porter plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen environment, supporting chefs and kitchen staff in food preparation, and ensuring that all kitchen operations run smoothly. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in the culinary field within a fast-paced restaurant or hotel setting.

Duties

Assist with food preparation tasks, including washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables. Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen by washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils promptly. Ensure all kitchen surfaces are kept clean and sanitised throughout the shift. Support chefs during service by preparing ingredients and assisting with cooking as required. Organise and store food items correctly to ensure freshness and compliance with health standards. Dispose of waste appropriately and maintain a tidy work environment. Assist with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to supervisors. Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

Skills

Previous experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen is preferred but not essential. Basic cooking skills and knowledge of food preparation techniques are advantageous. Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a busy environment. Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards hospitality and service. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards of cleanliness. A willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities within the culinary field.
