The Kitchen Helper / Porter plays a vital role in supporting the smooth running of the kitchen. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean and organised working environment, assisting chefs with basic food preparation, and ensuring compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Cleaning and Hygiene
Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils efficiently.
Keep kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment clean and sanitised.
Empty bins regularly and dispose of waste in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Food Preparation Support
Assist chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, or portioning ingredients.
Replenish ingredients and supplies as directed.
General Assistance
Support chefs and other kitchen staff during busy service periods.
Ensure equipment is put away correctly and safely after cleaning.
Comply with all food hygiene, health, and safety procedures at all times.
Skills and Requirements
Previous experience in a similar role is desirable but not essential (training will be provided).
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
Strong team player with a positive attitude.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
Flexibility with working hours, including evenings and weekends.
