The Role

The role will involve delivering first-class know-how and learning support to a dynamic team of fee-earners. The team advises clients on a wide variety of incentives matters which broadly fall into two categories:

1. Stand-alone advisory work which includes structuring pay packages, incentive plans and termination payments for main board directors and employees and clawing back pay when things go wrong.

2. Advising and supporting many of our practice teams on corporate transactions, private equity deals, restructurings and insolvencies and disputes and investigations.

Know-how and client knowledge & learning:

  • Drafting, maintaining, updating and organising the know-how database (including the precedent bank, wiki pages, memoranda, presentations and training materials), so that a comprehensive and up-to-date set of technically outstanding, practical and client-centric know-how materials is available to all fee-earners;
  • Assisting with creation and maintenance of databases e.g. on takeovers market practice;
  • Assisting with producing client briefings, alerts and newsletters using firm templates uploading content to and editing the Linklaters Knowledge Portal content;
  • Capturing know-how content from client transactions and updating the relevant know-how materials;
  • Creating, updating and maintaining the Incentives practice\xe2\x80\x99s pages on the firm\xe2\x80\x99s intranet site and website and marketing materials;
  • Working with other teams e.g. Marketing, Client Communications, and Digital Marketing to create and maintain know-how resources and client knowhow.
  • Testing new innovation initiatives.
Training:
  • Assisting with management, administration and support of training including slide preparation, updating training materials, internal e-learning modules and creating new presentations; and
  • Providing trainee support including updating \xe2\x80\x9chow to\xe2\x80\x9d trainee guides and assisting with trainee training and demonstrating Incentives knowhow online resources.
About You
  • Law degree (2:1)
  • Office administration skills gained in a professional services environment
  • High proficiency in English (written and oral)
  • Strong experience of MS office applications (especially Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Highly organised and able to prioritise and manage a constantly changing workload and competing requests from internal and external clients
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail
  • Positive, collaborative working style, with ability to work constructively with different stakeholders and act pro-actively
  • Approachable and willing to learn new skills, embrace new technology and take on responsibility
  • Interest in the commercial world and learning about remuneration and incentives-related issues.
The Team

The Linklaters\xe2\x80\x99 London Employment & Incentives team work on high-profile transactions which are strategically important and extremely commercially sensitive. It gives us access to the most senior people at clients, including Chairs, CEOs and other Board members and General Counsel. Highlights include advising: Burberry\xe2\x80\x99s Board and General Counsel on the termination and replacement of its Chief Creative Officer; and SoftBank\xe2\x80\x99s remuneration committee on the pay arrangements for the CEO and senior management of its US$100bn tech fund.

The Incentives practice has been ranked number 1 in Chambers and the Legal 500 for over 15 years and is the largest Incentives practice in the City. It is high profile in the market and the media and is in frequent contact with the Department of Business, the European Banking Authority, the Bank of England, the Prudential Regulation Authority, the Financial Conduct Authority and the Investment Association helping to influence and shape new regulation and guidelines. Our clients include around 40 of the FTSE 100 and over half of the top 20 fund managers.
