Job Title: Laboratory Operations Scientist
Location: Sandwich
Working Hours: 37 hours per week (flexible schedule between 07:00 - 19:00)
Salary: Competitive (disclosed upon conversation with consultant)
Fantastic opportunity to work for a leading contract research organisation providing services on-site to a multinational FTSE 100 pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation on their Sandwich site. We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Laboratory Operations Scientist to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in supporting logistics, systems, and consumables within our laboratory environment.
Roles and responsibility:

  • Act as a key liaison between Operations, Sourcing, Laboratory Service Technicians, Business Technologies, Laboratory Coordinators, and Engineering to ensure the smooth functioning of facilities, equipment maintenance, and calibration programs.
  • Prioritize and coordinate laboratory support activities to maintain optimal functionality and provide regular status updates during group meetings.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of equipment requiring routine maintenance and PAT testing, working closely with Operations, Engineering, and Laboratory Coordinators to schedule and monitor these activities.
  • Support laboratory inspections and audit outcomes.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for equipment and facility-related issues requiring engineer intervention, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to standards.
  • Assist Lab Coordinators and equipment owners with change control, equipment removal, log book creation, and archiving as necessary.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance activities and provide training to technicians in essential laboratory repair and maintenance procedures.
The candidate:
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a scientific discipline such as Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or Biology.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant industrial experience.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills, including interactions with external vendors.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize a high-volume customer service and administration workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in tracking instrumentation breakdowns and presenting metrics related to equipment maintenance and calibration.
  • Experience with organizational 5S activities or similar Lean improvement tools is advantageous.
  • Previous experience working in a Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) environment is essential.
