The main purpose of the Laboratory Technician is to carry out Quality Control checks on bulk liquids against specifications stated on the Batch Production Record, so the batch can be released into production, in a timely manner.
Main Objectives
1. Carry out calibration of all relevant laboratory equipment daily, ensuring all equipment is maintained in good working order.
2. Carry out Quality Control checks for bulk liquids against specifications.
3. Carry out stability tests on all products developed and maintain appropriate records.
4. Prepare and dispatch samples using the sample request system and technical service request system.
5. Maintain QC reference samples.
6. Maintain Lab stocks of production raw materials
7. Maintain stocks of lab consumables
8. Ensure QC retention samples are maintained in an orderly fashion on the mezzanine.
9. Maintain good housekeeping standards in the laboratory
10. Comply with all company, lab and department policies
Responsibilities
This role is responsible for analysing all bulk production batches in a timely manner completing all documentation and following the process. Any batches which are out of specification need to be highlighted immediately to the Formulation Chemist.
The Laboratory Technician is responsible for preparing lab samples to meet customer Samples Requests and Technical Service Requests, ensuring all documentation is completed and retaining any relevant samples.
This position is responsible for carrying out checks on stability samples, ensuring they fall within the specification for the duration of the stability test. Any samples which fall outside the specification need to be raised with the Formulation Chemist.
Excellent housekeeping standards should be adhered to at all times in the laboratory in order maintain health and safety and product integrity.
Tasks
The role includes the following specific tasks:
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure SDS's for development chemicals have been received, read and kept on file.
Ensure all raw materials display the relevant H&S classification symbols
Quality
Consistently enforces all company policies & procedures.
Operates in adherence to the company's Quality Management System (BRC)
Communication
Communicate out of specification batches to the Formulation Chemist.
Raise any out of specification stability samples with the Formulation Chemist.
Ensures accuracy in all documentation and correspondence produced.
Health and Safety
Adheres to good laboratory practices and all safety regulations both in laboratory and manufacturing areas.
Is expected to follow all company health and safety rules and is expected to wear company issued PPE where/when instructed.
Other
Performs additional special projects as assigned.

The performance of this role is assessed by:
Accuracy of documentation/records completed.
Completing QC analysis of batches in a timely manner.
Preparation and dispatch of samples in a defined turnaround time
Completion of Technical Service Requests in a defined time
Process Owner
This role is the process owner of the following:
Calibration of lab equipment and recording of results.
Ensuring solution standards are changed before their expiry date
Recording QC results on BPR's and maintaining the records.
Retaining QC retention samples
