We have a vacancies for a Lab Technician, in our Microbiology Lab.
About you
You will have good science A-levels and ideally you will have some practical experience within a lab environment. This could be previous work experience, or a placement opportunity gained as part of your degree course.
We are looking for a real team player who is flexible and will work closely with the QC teams to ensure that there are zero delays in testing activity by providing excellent support to the team to deliver their activities.
This is a great opportunity for someone to take their first step into a lab environment and gain some valuable experience.
The role
You will be involved in the following:
Generation, collation and archiving of QC documentation
Management of sample receipt/chain-of-custody processes
Coordination of maintenance activities for QC equipment
Management of QC inventory (including ordering)
Disposal of laboratory waste
Maintenance of the cleanliness of laboratories (including coordination of glassware washing)
Daily Calibration/Verification of laboratory equipment (e.g. balances, pH meters, pipettes)
Preparation and coordination of despatch of samples for external analysis
Sampling of chemical/allergen raw materials and packaging components (for Components, Chemistry & Biochemistry Labs) in accordance with approved procedures
Preparation of laboratory reagents in accordance with SOPs and SAMs
