Full Time Laboratory Assistant/Technician required for a busy, friendly food testing laboratory in West Buckland, Wellington. We test primarily food and drink for the industry and need an enthusiastic, reliable, committed and accurate person for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday 10.30am-6.30pm and Tuesday and Friday late shifts (1.00pm start until finish around 9pm) Plus one in four weekends (Saturday and Sunday 9am to finish, usually around 4pm) Flexibility is essential as we are not a 9-5 industry. Exact hours will be discussed at interview.
We are a microbiological testing lab, not chemistry or medical based.
Initial start rate of pay 12.21 for over 21 years but increments can be earned through experience and training. 10.00 for 18-20 years. Experience not essential as training will be given but would be desirable.
Own transport and driving licence essential due to our location

Responsibilities
Assist in preparing samples, reagents, and solutions for testing procedures.
Conduct routine laboratory tests following established protocols, ensuring accuracy and precision.
Maintain detailed records of experiments, observations, and results using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Ensure compliance with UKAS regulations and other relevant regulatory guidelines during all laboratory activities.
Organise and clean workspaces regularly to uphold a safe and efficient working environment.
Requirements
Prior laboratory experience is desirable but not essential as full training will be given
Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) would be desirable but not essential
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail to ensure precise documentation and sample handling.
Ability to follow strict safety protocols and work effectively within regulated environments.
A proactive attitude with the capacity to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced setting.
