Beckers is the number one supplier of Coil Coatings and a leading supplier of Industrial paints worldwide. Beckers is looking for candidates to join their team within the Quality Control Laboratory to undertake Laboratory assistance testing, batch adjustment, release and recording data.

8:30am - 4:45pm Monday to Thursday, 8:30am - 3:45pm Friday 45 mins Lunch
Total hours per week: 36.5
There may be times when you will be required to work an alternative shift pattern which is 4:00pm-11.45pm Monday to Thursday and 3:00pm-8:30pm Friday.

What will the apprentice be doing?
Working within Quality Control, this role is to provide technical assistance by undertaking product development and service work under the direction and guidance of the Laboratory Section Leaders and undertaking testing, tinting and validation of batches whilst supporting the business in safely maintaining the highest quality products to satisfy customer and regulatory requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
To undertake practical laboratory work, including Paint formulation, colour matching, small scale paint manufacture, paint application, physical testing of paints, process inspections, chemical resistance testing of paints, use of spray equipment and booths, record keeping, including lab books, reports, enquiries, timesheets, samples & panels
Assist with analytical work, including Paint solids determination, flashpoint determination
Assist with support work, including Supervision of batches in production, auditing, investigation of production problems, customer complaints, finding re-work outlets for redundant paint
Undertake administrative work relating to testing, batch validation and stock control via company computer systems
Liaise, troubleshoot and support both production with and in root cause analysis and correction of quality issues
Demonstrate high personal standards in relation to both ensuring customer requirements are met via production scheduling and priorities and with regards to QEHS activities
Maintaining quality control management system records
Carry out in process inspections
Archiving of approved samples and records
Maintain electronic records and generate certificates of conformance for customers
Engage in proactive stock management
To be competent and fully compliant in the safe operation of equipment, including; general lab equipment & ovens, calibration of laboratory equipment, operation of accelerated weathering cabinets
Maintain a clean and safe working environment through daily housekeeping inspections and adherence to 5S practices
Highlight unsafe conditions, taking reasonable care of oneself and others. To comply with Beckers Health and Safety policy and any Beckers procedures /rules that apply to your role
Adhere to the Becker's code of conduct at all times
Labelling, storage and disposal of approved samples and records
Dispose of all waste generated in accordance with Environmental Management Procedures
Undertake training where required and appropriate
Promote and engage in the communication and implementation of Beckers' values and culture

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
As an apprentice you will complete a Laboratory Technician Level 3 qualification with a national Training Provider. Your Apprenticeship Training will focus on your job, is completed at the workplace, and you will be allocated a tutor and a study session in your working week.
