Brief overview of the role:

An exciting opportunity to start your career in science as a Laboratory Technician Apprentice. You'll support day-to-day lab operations, including testing, equipment maintenance, and data recording, while working towards a recognised qualification in a professional lab environment.

Qualifications Required:

GCSEs in Maths, English, and a science subject (or equivalent) at grade 4-9 or equivalent.

Strong interest in science and laboratory work Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow processes precisely Good numeracy and literacy skills Competent in using Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel Ability to work methodically and maintain accurate records Strong organisational skills and time management Good communication skills, both written and verbal Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team

This apprenticeship offers a strong foundation for a long-term career in the science and laboratory sector. Upon successful completion of the programme, you may have the opportunity to progress into a permanent Laboratory Technician role or explore further training and specialisation in areas such as quality control, research and development, or laboratory management. There is potential for continued professional development and further qualifications, including higher-level apprenticeships or a degree in a science-related field.

Responsibilities



Perform routine sample testing and record/archive data accurately. Report test results, highlighting variations and out-of-specification results promptly. Complete Work Requests and contribute to procedure development/review. Maintain laboratory safety and housekeeping, adhering to COSHH and HSE standards. Collect, label, and process samples, and operate/maintain lab equipment. Participate in the Level 3 Apprenticeship programme, including coursework and assessments. Work independently on assigned tasks after training. Order laboratory consumables.
