Laboratory Technician

within our

In-Vivo Team

at Gentronix. This role offers you an opportunity to use your technical skills to provide support to our scientists working in an innovative and fast-growing Contract Research Organisation (CRO).

Your role

Working closely with our team of experienced scientists, you will learn how to perform tasks to support the conduct of rodent genetic toxicology studies including the in-life phase as well as the post-life phase which take place in our laboratory. These studies are complex in design and as a Laboratory Technician you will have the opportunity to support these studies by preparing reagents, calibrating and checking equipment, preparing workbooks, maintaining records, organising and labelling consumables, alongside ensuring the laboratory remains well stocked and tidy. You will also have the opportunity to work with our collaborators within the animal unit at Alderley Park, gaining first-hand experience in rodent studies that are conducted to the highest ethical standards. You be fully trained by our team to operate to high standards within a GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) accredited laboratory and the work you do will ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the laboratory and all study work.

Specifically, you will:

Carry out general laboratory tasks including, but not limited to, equipment calibration, stock control of materials, preparation of reagents, general housekeeping and environmental monitoring. Be responsible for some basic laboratory tasks for the in-vivo and comet assays. Assist the Study Director and animal unit staff with basic tasks associated with the conduct of rodent genetic toxicology studies. Gain a clear understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and consistently apply these standards in your daily work. Follow all documented methods and standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely, ensuring compliance without deviation. Take ownership of record-keeping, ensuring accuracy, attention to detail, and thorough documentation. Show enthusiasm for learning and continuously developing technical skills relevant to your role.

About you

To join us as a Laboratory Technician in our In-vivo Team, you will need:

Experience of working in a life sciences laboratory environment and/or a life sciences degree or equivalent qualifications and experience An interest in learning about the conduct of rodent genetic toxicology studies To be able to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of laboratory science and an enthusiasm to learn new practical skills in an industrial setting Good communication skills, and a strong team player Excellent attention to detail with accurate written skills Experience of working in an in-vivo setting is preferable
We will consider applications from candidates who do not have formal scientific qualifications if you have significant relevant experience from working as a technician in a life science laboratory.
