Cornish Lithium is seeking enthusiastic and collaborative Laboratory Technician to carry out laboratory related tasks in a newly built hydrometallurgy demonstration plant.


The ideal candidate will have completed a Degree or equivalent qualification and have some experience of working in a relevant industry. You should have excellent written and oral communication skills, as you will need to communicate successfully across all levels of the Company.


As a Laboratory Technician your responsibilities will include:


Sample preparation according to approved test methods and standard operating procedures

Sample analysis using appropriate instrumentation

Analysis of data using instrument software and our in-house company data analysis spreadsheets

Keep meticulous records of all relevant actions

Ensure instrument calibrations are correct and recorded

Ensure results are reported to LIMS in a timely and accurate manner

Support the laboratory manager in developing new or improved test methods or laboratory procedures

Laboratory H&S tasks -

Writing risk and COSHH assessments

Reporting unsafe conditions and behaviours

Ensuring a tidy and safe workplace is maintained



We would welcome applicants with the following attributes:


HND in Chemistry (or equivalent qualification)

Two years laboratory experience

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels of the organization

Excellent communication skills

Self-starter

Ability to work on own initiative, pro-active

Strong competence in IT

Full UK Driving Licence Applicants must hold 'Right to Work' status



Desirable factors:

Previous experience of ICP-OES operation and data analysis.

Previous experience of digestion and extraction methods with concentrated acids and bases.

Previous experience of chemical processing / engineering.

The role will be based at the Company's Trelavour Lithium Project, St. Dennis, St. Austell, Cornwall. Annual leave comprises 25 days' holiday per year pro rata, plus UK Bank Holidays. Successful applicants must be prepared to work a shift rota which will include nightshift and weekend working.
