Job Description

Lancaster Arts (LA) is a combined arts organisation within the portfolio of Arts Council England offering a curated thematic programme through presentations, commissions and arts sector support in our gallery, concert hall and studio theatre spaces.

We are seeking a responsible individual to provide Duty Manager cover for occasional external hires and performances in the Great Hall Complex at Lancaster University. Some previous experience in public-facing roles preferable, but full training will be provided.

Pay Rate: \xc2\xa310.55 per hour plus \xc2\xa31.27 holiday pay

Start date: 1st September 2023

End date: 31st July 2024

Working pattern: Flexible working hours available

• To provide Duty Management cover for public performances and hires, including evenings and weekends.

Deliver safety briefings for hirers and front of house volunteers.

Carry out safety checks prior to the performance and be responsible for the welfare of the general public, artists, staff and volunteers.

To work closely with all hirers, technical staff and security in the Great Hall Complex to ensure good communication and collaborative working practices. * Ensure that the building is vacated and secure at the end of an event or performance.

Person Specification

• Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a variety of people of different backgrounds and disciplines.

Maintaining a friendly, professional approach at all times.

Customer service skills and experience working with the public.

Knowledge of Health and Safety best practice in public settings.

Ability to work flexibly including day, evenings, and weekend hours.

An interest in the arts, particularly theatre, performance, and music. * Available for training in week prior to 2nd and 3rd September 2023.
