As a land/geomatics surveyor you'll be responsible to collect various geospatial data sets derived from various land, measured building, hydrographical, and railway survey projects, including working as Setting Out and As-Built Surveyor on interesting construction projects across the United Kingdom and Europe.

Typical duties as Land/Geomatics Surveyor, include undertaking:

Topographical Surveys Measured Building Surveys Hydrographical (River & Coastal) Permanent Way (Railway) Surveys Terrestrial Laser Scanning & Drone Surveys Tunnel Surveys, including CCTV Drainage Surveys Land, Drainage, and Structural Condition Surveys Ground Penetrating Radar and Utility Trace Surveys Prepare 2D and 3D CAD Drawing Models, Revit for BIM

Working hours



Site or Office working hours are between 8:30 am to 5 pm, excluding travel time to site, and include 1 hour of paid lunch break. When working during a weekend or on an overseas project you will be paid at a double rate in addition to all other expenses paid and excellent hotel accommodation. Please note, working as a Land/Geomatics Surveyor sometimes may require longer working hours, weekends, or shift work to meet project deadlines, which is all paid as overtime. Bank Holliday work is also paid at a triple rate.

What to expect



Working as Land/Geomatics Surveyor involves a mixture of office and site work, therefore the successful candidate must expect to spend a good part of his or her time working outdoors and in all reasonable weather conditions that allow safe execution of site survey work without jeopardising the quality of the collected geospatial survey data or his/her own personal safety. Please note, surveys play a paramount role in the next stage of a given project, therefore in addition to the requirement for each project to be completed to strict deadlines, and sometimes the client can request a last-minute change to survey specification which requires site mobilisation at short notice. Our holiday year runs from 1st January to 31st December. Therefore the successful candidate will be entitled to 20 days of paid holiday during each year in addition to bank holidays, Christmas Day, etc. After each year of continued employment, you will gain 1 extra day of paid holiday (up to 10 extra days in total). Leave entitlement for New Starters will be pro-rata. The Company will pay for one annual Institute membership per year directly into the institution's bank account. All expenses which will occur in the proper performance of your duties will be reimbursed. Subject to terms of any applicable expenses and allowance policy of Bernard Geomatics Limited

Qualifications



The successful candidate will be expected to have a land/geomatics surveying qualification or another related qualification which includes surveying modules.

Key Skills



You'll need to demonstrate evidence of the following:

Knowledge of Land/Geomatics Science depending on the role applied in addition to good literature, CAD, and general IT skills Positive working attitude with good decision-making skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team Confident speaker with good oral and written communication skills High levels of numeracy and attention to detail Ability to handle responsibility and lead by example A desire to achieve accuracy, especially when using high precision total stations and digital levels Capability to identify problems quickly, at an early stage, and to offer robust solutions Ability to conjure 2D and 3D geospatial information in CAD drawing models, including complex BIM Models up to LOD 500.
