Job Description
Hillside Shire Horse Sanctuary recruiting for a Large Animal Assistant on a Full Time permanent basis.
Hours of Work:
Winter - 5 x 8 hour shifts per week (7.30am to 4.00 pm) Summer - 4 x 10 hour shifts per week (7.00 am to 6.00 pm) Alternate weekends offAssisting in providing a high standard of care to rescued horses, cattle, sheep
and pigs at the sanctuary.
Duties to include (but not limited to)
Preparation of feeds & daily feed run operations Cleaning out of animal paddocks, enclosures and water tanks Closely monitoring animal health and well-being Maintaining safe, clean, warm and dry environments for the animals Moving, leading and grooming equines Tractor/trailer driving General cleaning and maintenance of equipment
Skills/ Qualities
A genuine interest in animal welfare Animal husbandry qualification or experience of working with large animals Current manual driving licence Practical hands-on and hard-working approach to work Capable to carry out manual handling Ability to work alone and within a team Good communication skills Experience of outdoor working in all Seasons Excellent time-keeping and attendance to work
