Job Summary:

This role focuses on the post-cutting phase of a laser operation, ensuring that finished parts are correctly removed from the laser machine, meet quality standards, and are organized for the next stage of production.

Key Responsibilities:

Part Removal:

Safely and efficiently remove finished parts and associated scrap from the laser cutting machine.

Quality Control:

Inspect parts for accuracy, dimensional correctness, and adherence to quality standards.

Dross Removal:

Remove any dross (residual material) from the parts or the cutting bed to ensure a clean finish.

Sorting & Stacking:

Group and sort cut parts according to job specifications and stack them for downstream processes.

Material Handling:

Handle both cut parts and large/heavy materials or sheets, potentially using equipment like forklifts or pallet loaders.

Work Area Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organized workstation and laser cutting area.

Safety Procedures:

Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols and wear appropriate safety equipment.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Attention to Detail:

A meticulous eye for detail is crucial for identifying defects and ensuring accuracy.

Physical Stamina:

The role may involve standing for long periods and lifting heavy materials.

Manual Dexterity:

Good hand-eye coordination is necessary for handling delicate parts.

Methodical Approach:

A systematic way of working to ensure consistency and efficiency.

Problem-Solving:

The ability to identify practical solutions to issues that arise during part removal.

Communication:

Good communication skills for coordinating with operators, technicians, and other team members.

Helpful Qualifications:

Experience with laser cutting operations or machine operation.

Familiarity with basic maths, measurement tools (like callipers) and quality control procedures. Forklift operator's license or experience with manual handling equipment.

Additional Duties

Undertake any other reasonable management request

To attend staff meetings when requested

Work flexibly where possible to support the business when needed

Attend training requested by the company which is linked to the development of your job role

Ensure waste is kept to a minimum to benefit both the company and the environment

Ensure your working area is kept tidy at all times and general housekeeping maintained to assist with H&S procedures

Legal Duties

Attend any Health and Safety training when required

Ensure full compliance with all areas of Health and Safety as per company Health and Safety policy

Ensure full compliance with health and safety personal protective equipment including work boots, safety glasses, ear plugs, overalls as required by legislation and set out in company health and safety procedures

Salary

-dependant on experience and qualifications.

Hours of work

-2.00pm-10.30pm Monday to Thursday and 1.30pm-7.30pm on Friday with a 10 minute paid tea break and a 20 minute paid rest break. Any additional hours over 40 will be paid at overtime rate

Benefits:

40 hours per week Mon-Fri

33 days holiday (incl. Bank Holidays of which 3 must be taken at the Christmas shutdown)
