to lead production operations in our window fabrication facility. This role is responsible for supervising fabrication teams during the backshift, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently met.
In the absence of the Production Manager, the Backshift Supervisor acts as the designated deputy, assuming full responsibility for backshift operations. This position requires strong leadership, sound decision-making, and the ability to manage production independently during off-hours.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise all backshift window fabrication activities, including cutting, assembly, glazing, welding, and finishing.
Ensure production schedules, quality standards, and efficiency targets are met.
Lead, coach, and motivate production employees.
Assign work, monitor productivity, and address performance issues.
Act as the primary point of contact for backshift operations when management is not on-site.
Enforce safety policies, regulations, and proper use of PPE.
Conduct quality checks and address defects or production issues.
Complete shift reports, production documentation, and handover communications.
Coordinate with day shift leadership to ensure smooth transitions.
Key Holder & Facility Security Responsibilities
Serve as an authorised key holder for the facility during assigned shifts.
Responsible for locking and securing the building at the end of the backshift in accordance with company security procedures.
Ensure all production areas, offices, equipment, and exterior access points are properly secured.
Verify all employees have exited the facility prior to locking.
Activate and deactivate alarm systems as required.
Report security concerns, incidents, or facility issues to management immediately.
Maintain strict control and accountability of issued keys and access credentials.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of supervisory experience
in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
Prior experience in
window fabrication
preferred.
Formal supervisory or leadership training required.
Proven ability to manage operations independently during off-hours.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Basic computer skills for reporting and communication
