To ensure the efficient and effective laundering of the residents clothing, bed linen, towels, and other items in accordance with hygiene and infection control standards, providing a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort, wash, dry, fold and iron laundry including residents personal clothing, bedding and towels.
Ensure correct washing procedures are followed for different fabrics and colours.
Return residents clean clothes to the appropriate rooms promptly and accurately, ensuring they are put away in a neat and tidy manner.
Ensure that all residents wardrobes and clothing drawers are kept clean, neat and tidy.
Monitor the laundry supplies and inform the manager when stock needs replenishing
Maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the laundry room at all times
Operate and maintain the laundry equipment, reporting and concerns or faults to the manager or maintenance team
Follow the care home policies regarding infection control and health & safety at all times
Comply with COSHH regulations
Safely handle soiled and contaminated laundry, using appropriate PPE and procedures
Assist in managing lost or damaged clothing, informing appropriate staff and recording incidents
Respect residents privacy, dignity, and personal preferences at all times

Good understanding of hygiene and infection control
Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively
Attention to details and care in handling personal belongings
Ability to work as part of a team, with a respectful and positive attitude
Ability to follow procedures and maintain high standards

Desirable:
Previous experience in a laundry of housekeeping role
Experience working in a care home or healthcare environment
Basic knowledge of laundry machinery and products
Working Conditions:
This role involves physical works requiring standing, lifting and repetitive tasks
Exposure to chemicals and soiled laundry (appropriate PPE will be provided)
Will involve working weekend shifts
Applicants must be willing to undertake any training in relation to the post and attend training sessions and staff meetings as required
Safeguarding:
This role involves working in a care environment with vulnerable adults. All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
