Job Description

Job Purpose:

To provide a high standard of laundry service for residents by ensuring that clothing, bedding, and other items are washed, dried, ironed, and returned to the appropriate areas in a timely and hygienic manner. The Laundry Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the comfort, dignity, and well-being of residents.

Key Responsibilities:

Collect, sort, and prepare laundry (resident clothing, bedding, towels, etc.) for washing. Operate washing machines, tumble dryers, and irons according to care labels and infection control procedures. Ensure clothes are returned to residents in good condition, clean, dry, and neatly folded or ironed. Identify and report any laundry items that are damaged or in need of repair. Ensure all laundry equipment is cleaned and maintained regularly and safely. Maintain a clean and tidy laundry area at all times, following health and safety and infection control protocols. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow manual handling guidelines as required. Work as part of the care home team to support the overall comfort and well-being of residents. Respect the confidentiality and dignity of all residents at all times. Report any concerns about residents' clothing or well-being to the appropriate senior staff.

Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness. Ability to work independently and manage time effectively. Respect for the elderly and understanding of their needs. Ability to follow instructions and adhere to health and safety guidelines.
