Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented

Laundry Assistant

to join our care home team. This role plays an important part in ensuring our residents feel comfortable and respected by providing clean, well-cared-for personal laundry and linens, while maintaining high standards of hygiene and organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Operate washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment safely and efficiently. Sort, wash, dry, fold, and iron laundry, including residents' personal items, bedding, and towels. Ensure all residents' laundry is clearly labelled and correctly identified. Put away clean laundry in residents' rooms, keeping wardrobes and drawers tidy and well-organised. Handle clothing and personal items with care and respect, maintaining residents' dignity. Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the laundry room. Monitor stock levels of laundry supplies and report when replenishment is needed. Report any equipment faults or maintenance issues promptly. Follow infection control, hygiene, and health & safety regulations at all times. Liaise with care staff to ensure individual preferences and needs are met.

Requirements

Previous experience in a care home or similar setting is desirable but not essential - training will be provided. High attention to detail and pride in delivering a quality service. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Good organisational and time management skills. Physical ability to carry out repetitive tasks and lift laundry loads. A respectful and caring approach, with a focus on residents' comfort and dignity.
