Compliance Manager

to lead our regulatory, legal, and risk management frameworks.

Role Overview:



The

Compliance Manager

will be responsible for ensuring that the firm meets its obligations under all regulatory and professional rules, including those set by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations, GDPR, and internal policies. This is a key strategic and operational role within the firm, requiring strong knowledge of law firm compliance, excellent communication skills, and an ability to promote a culture of best practice and accountability.

Key Responsibilities:



Oversee the firm's compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations, including the Code of Conduct, Accounts Rules, and transparency requirements Lead and maintain the firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance systems, including client due diligence (CDD), source of funds checks, and SAR reporting Ensure ongoing compliance with GDPR and data protection regulations Draft, implement, and maintain internal policies and procedures across the firm Conduct regular audits and file reviews, and report findings to senior management Provide compliance training to staff, including induction sessions and regulatory updates Liaise with the COLP (Compliance Officer for Legal Practice) and COFA (Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration) Monitor and report on risk management, conflicts of interest, and breach registers Prepare the firm for SRA audits, Lexcel accreditation (if applicable), and other regulatory inspections Manage complaints handling procedures and coordinate resolution with relevant parties Keep up to date with regulatory changes and advise the firm accordingly

Requirements:



Minimum 3+ years' experience in a legal compliance role (law firm experience essential) In-depth knowledge of SRA rules, AML requirements, GDPR, and risk management practices Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills Legal qualification (e.g. LLB or LPC) preferred but not essential Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently Strong ethical standards and a commitment to confidentiality and discretion
