About the role and team

Our Property Charging Team is a highly skilled national team based in Birmingham, working with registered providers of social housing across the UK. The team handles all types of property charging transactions, often collaborating with our Funding Team to ensure seamless delivery from start to finish. In addition to charging work, the team supports large-scale due diligence projects such as stock rationalisation, working alongside other specialist colleagues across the firm. We pride ourselves on delivering consistently high-quality work, identifying issues that may impact chargeability or valuation, and providing practical solutions throughout the process.



We are open to candidates applying in Birmingham or Manchester.

Key Responsibilities




Advise on the structure of property portfolios and due diligence requirements based on property types. Familiar with the different types of transactions whether new charging, top up work or reliance transactions. Undertake due diligence and draft and negotiate Certificates of Title and other key documents. Manage transactions involving new build properties, older properties, ex-LSVT stock, and both charged and unencumbered properties. Identify and resolve issues that may affect chargeability or valuation. Collaborate with junior team members on mapping, property list checks, searches, planning permissions and FCA/Land Registry applications. Work closely with the Funding Team and other teams (such as stock rationalisation) on complex projects Ensure all work meets client needs and expectations with a focus on quality and accuracy. About the candidate

We see the ideal candidate as:


Having at least three years' experience in secured property charging transactions for housing associations (experience may have been gained prior to qualification). A team player who enjoys taking ownership as well as developing others to contribute to our positive team culture. Excellent drafting skills in order to draft the certificate of title and associated documents Having good technical knowledge including surrounding the adequacy of mortgagee exclusion provisions and different types of land registry applications that may be required to be made for different title 'issues'. Excellent communication skills, to advise clients and negotiate transactions with counterparts. Able to build a strong rapport with clients and deliver client workshops. Able to manage multiple transactions with minimal supervision. Willing to actively manage other team members to improve the development of the team (in time) About the firm
