The Lancashire Cricket Foundation (LCF) is the charitable arm of Lancashire Cricket, delivering cricket programmes and initiatives across the county.

We are the designated governing body for cricket in Lancashire, with responsibility for supporting clubs, leagues, coaches, officials, and volunteers. Our work is underpinned by the belief that cricket can change lives.



The day-to-day management of the charity is led by our Managing Director and senior executive team, who work closely with the Board of Trustees.

We are seeking to appoint a Non-Executive Director / Trustee to join our Board, with lead responsibility for governance and compliance. Acting in a capacity akin to Company Secretary, you will help ensure that LCF meets its legal, regulatory, and constitutional obligations, while maintaining the highest standards of transparency and accountability.


Responsibilities:




Board and Governance Leadership:


Serve as a full member of the Board, contributing to strategic direction and oversight. Lead the Board's focus on governance, compliance, and risk management. Ensure Board meetings, AGMs, and Committees are conducted in accordance with statutory and constitutional requirements. Oversee preparation and circulation of agendas, papers, and accurate minutes.

Compliance and Regulatory Duties:


Ensure timely submission of statutory filings to the Charity Commission and Companies House. Maintain up-to-date statutory registers and governance records. Monitor changes in legislation and best practice and advise the Board accordingly.

Risk and Policy Management:


Support the development and periodic review of governance policies and procedures. Maintain oversight of the organisation's risk register and mitigation strategies.

Stakeholder Engagement:


Work collaboratively with the Chair, Managing Director, Executive Team, and fellow Trustees. Represent the Foundation externally on governance-related matters.

Person Specification:




Essential:


Significant experience in governance, company secretarial duties, or legal/compliance roles Knowledge of charity law, company law, and regulatory frameworks Board-level experience and ability to contribute strategically beyond specialist area Ability to interpret and communicate complex information clearly Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Desirable:


Understanding of UK sports governance frameworks (ideally cricket/ECB) Risk management and policy development experience Knowledge of safeguarding requirements in a charitable/sports context

Term and Time Commitment:




Three year term, renewable subject to Board approval Approximately 8-10 Board/Committee meetings per year, plus preparation time and ad hoc support
