Your role




Aligns the Stream target architecture with Divisional and group objectives with a plan to deliver.


Helps define and communicate strategy to the Crews, oversees implementation matches design, promotes reusable blueprints and architectural ways of working across the Crews.


Maintains an up to date governance view across the Stream ensuring gaps/deficiencies are addressed in a timely manner and runs and effective EOL remediation programme with our risk counterparts.


Mentors crew architects to achieve standardization across the division and runs the relevant approval forums.


Keeps the technical vision consistent across crews and has a clear understanding of the Stream's, IB and Groups business imperatives and technology strategy


Create and maintain the Stream's 2-3 year target state and bank on a page. These will be tracked key milestones that move and align to the architecture goals of the IB.


Maintains an overview of known technical debt, agreed remediation dates and progress.

Stream architect will be supported by a team of Crew architects with a strategic focus on - keeping the technical vision consistent across applications and has a clear understanding of the Stream's business imperatives and technology strategy



To further strengthen the alignment of our applications with strategic architecture and to foster iterative design, we have crew architects who have a dotted line into the Stream Architects.



The Crew Architects will proactively work with their pod technical leads to ensure full alignment to strategic architecture and early involvement in design/solutions of new applications and any material changes to existing applications / cloud migration.

Your expertise




Architecture & Design

Low latency design - In-depth knowledge of ultra low latency systems (mico / milli seconds range)


High availability systems - designing for resiliency, failover, redundancy and disaster recovery


Micro services architecture - modular design patterns using REST/gRPC, containerization etc..


Operational architecture - keen focus on system stability and effective design for observability


Networking & Infrastructure

Low-level networking - TCP/IP, UDP, multicast, FIX protocols


Kernel by pass technologies - experience designing applications using DPDK, RDMA, Solarflare/Melanox


Colocation infrastructure - experience designing with collocated servers, hardware timestampgin and FPGA integration.



Financial Markets Knowledge

Electronic trading workflows - Order lifecycle, market data, order routing, pricing, RFQs and SOR


Market Microstructure: Understanding exchange matching engines, dark pools and lit venues


Protocols - FIX, ITCH & proprietary APIs


Asset classes - Equities, FX, Futures, Options
